Ecology Center - Community Gardening

The Evanston Community Garden Recreation Program rents garden plots from mid-March through mid-November to Evanston residents. Garden plots are not available for non-residents. 

There are four community garden sites:

- James Park Gardens on Oakton St.

- Twiggs Gardens on Simpson St.

- McCormick Gardens on McCormick Blvd.

- Lighthouse Gardens on Sheridan Road

Each site has water, wheelbarrows and wood chips available. Full plots are approximately 400 square feet ($85) and half-plots are about 200 square feet ($42.50).  James Park Gardens and Twiggs Gardens also have raised beds.

Plots not rented by returning gardeners are available to individuals in the spring.  Prospective gardeners should register for the Community Garden Lottery by March 6.  The lottery will be held on March 10 at the Evanston Ecology Center.
