Ecology Center - Critter Crew

JOIN THE CRITTER CREW AND HELP ABANDONED PETS WHO HAVE A HOME AT THE ECOLOGY CENTER.

There are two ways you can help care for our critters - actually come into the Ecology Center periodically and assist us with the care of these animals who need our help and attention OR you can sponsor an animal.  Either forms of critter assistance are absolutely critical to their well being.

What critters do we have at the Ecology Center?  A Rabbit, a Hedgehog, Gerbils, Corn Snakes, Tortoise Box Turtles, a Map Turtle Turtle, a Snapping Turtle, a Sand Skink, Leopard Frogs, Hermit Crabs, Fish, and Madagaskar Hissing Cockroaches.

How do you take care of the critters?  First, call the Ecology Center at 847 448-8256 and select a day of the week that is open for critter care.  Then every other week, you (accompanied by an adult) will come in and help feed and care for the critters.  (To take care of the critters, you need to be old enough to cut up fruits and vegetables for their meals.)  Your name will be added to the Critter Crew board at the Ecology Center.

How do you sponsor a critter?  Visit the Ecology Center, find out which critters are in need of a sponsor, and then select one to sponsor.  Then complete and return the Animal Sponsorship Application form.  Your donation will be tax deductible.

For your sponsorship you will receive:

  • an official Certificate of Sponsorship
  • a fact sheet about your Critter
  • your name displayed for one year on the Critter Crew board at the Ecology Center
  • a reminder one month before your sponsorship period ends

Your donation will help fund:

  • veterinary care
  • quality equipment
  • appropriate dietary needs
  • loving care from volunteers

All sponsorships are subject to availability.  All critter costs are shared across sponsorships.
