Description
Prairie Alumroot, adaptable to many growing conditions, displays unusual fuzzy leaves and rich copper red color in autumn. Tall flower spikes are important for little native bees; in particular a specialist bee, Colletes aestivalis, will only take nectar from these Heuchera species. Called an oligolege, this is a different kind of host plant-insect relationship.
