Description

Witchhazel produces fragrant yellow, spidery blooms in autumn when little else is in bloom. They mature to seed capsules that attract diverse wildlife. Waxwings, Finches, Thrashers, Wrens, Thrushes and Nuthatches are drawn to the fruit. This understory tree provides shelter for birds and is larval host to 60 species of US caterpillar, including a specialist Witch Hazel Dagger moth.
