Description
Pollinator workhorse Wild Bergamot features large lavender flowers for almost three months starting in June. It generally is abuzz with long-tongued bees, hummingbirds, and is favored by the federally endangered Rusty Patched Bumble Bee. Bergamot is larval food for the Hermit Sphinx and Gray Marvel moths. Adaptable in Sun to Part-Sun, moist to dry gardens, Bergamot spreads by seed and rhizomes. Aromatic leaves and blooms are reminiscent of Earl Grey tea and may be used in teas and salads.
