https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82697690804
A simple way to take action for climate, community health and biodiversity: Swap out your lawn for native plants from Bird Buzz Plant Sale. We will look at foundation shrubs and trees and wildflowers attractive to birds, humans and the federally endangered Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee.
Bios:
Leslie Shad founded and leads Natural Habitat Evanston, a community effort since 2015 to change the culture of lawns and plant more bird habitat and pollinator gardens. She’s also a major organizational contributor to the Bird Buzz Native Plant Sale.
Libby Shafer is a master's student in the Environmental Sciences program at DePaul. She created the Evanston Host Plant Initiative, in partnership with Natural Habitat Evanston, to organize community scientists to grow host plants for the endangered Rusty Patched Bumble Bee, and upload their photos of plants and bees to iNaturalist, to help create and map habitat.
We will be launching the Opening of the Bird Buzz Plant Sale after the talk!
