Description
Pompoms of fragrant, white blooms that turn to seed, Birds and pollinators, including the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee, love buttonbush. Hummingbirds, Waxwings, Nuthatches, Chickadees and Woodpeckers may be attracted the the flowers and nutlets. Larval Host to about 20 species of US caterpillar, including two specialists: the Buttonbush Leafminer and the Buttonbush Sphinx moths. The unique seedheads often persist in winter.
