Description
A brilliant yellow poppy in a shady garden, ants, attracted by oily deposits on the seeds, distribute the seeds, which mammals will eat. Mammals avoid the toxic leaves. The flowers provide pollen to bees, flies and other small insects, but not nectar. The flowers were used as a dye by Native Americans.
